General Agenda Items:

• Ultrasound Initiative – As approved in May, the Chapter contributed $500 toward the multi-council initiative to purchase an ultrasound machine for Aid for Women. The combined efforts of councils #7331, #4238, and #14284 for the current ultrasound purchase can serve as the model for how the Chapter can assist other councils to collaborate on future ultrasound purchases. Each fraternal year, the Chapter should try to identify those councils interested in collaborating with others to purchase a new ultrasound machine. Although many councils may lack the financial resources to purchase the discounted ultrasound machines on their own, many councils contributing funds toward a common purchase will make success more likely.
• Southside Life House – No formal report was given. A project manager from this Englewood (Chicago) based maternity home providing pregnant mothers and their babies with housing, counseling, and life skills support reached out to the Chapter seeking assistance. The Chapter’s Life Director, Francisco Castandeda, may have more information about this organization and their request of the Chapter at a
  future Chapter meeting.
• ID Drive Update (Mike Schnabel) – With 17 days left in the fraternal year, the statewide ID Drive is only $45,000 short of reaching the $2.0M mark for the first time. Already surpassing their annual goal, Chicago’s councils have raised more than $536,000 so far this year.
• Sacred Heart/Silver Rose update – Diocesan Assistant Matthew Martinez shared a brief report and flier for the future scheduling of the Sacred Heart and Silver Rose. The flyer will be published in the next Chapter Newsletter. Robbie Gawronski shared a success story regarding the Sacred Heart Icon Holy Hour that his home council (#4836) hosted on July 12th. More than 80 people from multiple parishes attended the event. It was easy to execute thanks to the resources available and the support of the local Pastor. The addition of music and the opportunity for confession (in addition to the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament) enhanced the beautiful program.
• Website Update – The Chapter’s new website went “live” on 6/12/26. The URL is www.kofcchicago.org. Although up and running, it is not fully functional yet. The three designated administrators (Jeff Griggs, Robbie Gawronski, and Matthew Martinez) need to be trained on how to manage the site, and Jim Killigrew needs to work with the developer to set up the payment processing features. Seven email addresses with the kofcchicago.org domain are included. They initially are as follows: President@kofcchicago.org; VicePresident@kofcchicago.org; Treasurer@kofcchicago.org; Secretary@kofcchicago.org; CAC@kofcchicago.org; ProLife@kofcchicago.org; and Newsletter@kofcchicago.org. are included hree administrators Vice President Tim Griffith shared
  that he needs to work with Treasurer Jim Killigrew for connecting the website with the Chapter’s merchant payment information. This is necessary so that Chapter dues and future Chapter event purchases can be made through the new website. The target date for the website to be operational is June 4th. Tim has only committed to the start of the website and not its future maintenance.

Chicago Archdiocesan Chairman’s (CAC) Report (Matthew Martinez for Dan Davis):

• Matthew Martinez provided a brief report on behalf of Dan Davis. The State of Illinois exceeded its membership goals for the second consecutive year bringing in 2,100 new members. The Chicago Archdiocese has 449 new members year to date with multiple exemplifications scheduled for June. As of the meeting date, 31 councils in the archdiocese had met their membership goals, 28 had satisfied their Founders’ Award requirements, and 17 councils already had their Columbian Award applications approved. Dan anticipates at least 13 Star Councils and 4 or more Star Districts. Districts 7, 8, 18, and 21 already have met the requirements for Star District this year.

New Business/DD Reports: There were no additional action items. Highlights of the DD comments and general announcements are noted below.

• Matthew Martinez shared information about Council #17253’s golf outing on 8/28/26 at Stony Creek
  Golf Club in Palos Heights. The flyer will be included in the upcoming Chapter Newsletter.
• Hillinger Assembly is hosting a 4th Degree Exemplification on 6/27/26 at St. Norbert in Northbrook. A
  motion was made by Joe Rada for the Chapter to purchase a full-page ad in the exemplification ad
  book. The motion was seconded by Tom Kaiser. MOTION PASSED.
• The deadline for submitting articles to Tom Kaiser for the July/August Newsletter is 6/26/26.

Chapter Election Results: Chapter Treasurer Jim Killigrew reported the results of the elections for Chapter Offices during the 2026-2027 fraternal year. The election ran for two weeks and closed on June 12th with 39 voting members submitting ballots. Jim noted this was a higher voter turnout than in recent years. The following brother knights were elected as follows.

• Jim Killigrew, Treasurer
• Thomas Kaiser, Three-year Trustee

The incoming President led the Chapter in praying the Litany of Humility emphasizing that leadership in the Knights of Columbus is not about personal glory. It’s about helping others and oneself grow closer to God. Wallet-sized laminated prayer cards with the Litany of Humility were distributed to those in attendance.
